Plans are underway to build a Winx statue, following the news she is being set for an autumn preparation in 2019.
The ATC revealed they are set to honour the four-time Cox Plate champion and record Australasian prizemoney earner with a statue at her home track, Rosehill.
ATC chief executive Jamie Barkley confirmed Winx was set to be further immortalised in Sydney.
“We are thrilled and grateful to Winx, her owners and trainer Chris Waller for giving Sydney an opportunity to see her live on course for another campaign,” Barkley said.
“Winx is a once in a lifetime horse and the Australian Turf Club will be throwing everything at promoting racing for all of Sydney to enjoy and celebrate her runs.
“We are especially excited to begin plans for a statue of Winx at her home track at Rosehill Gardens.”
Winx is set to join the likes of: Makybe Diva (Port Lincoln), Black Caviar (Nagambie), Phar Lap (Flemington & Timaru), Northerly (Ascot), and Buffering (Eagle Farm), in horses being immortalised via a statue in Australia.
Chris Waller’s superstar mare has multiple murals in her honour, including at Ascot Vale – a stone’s throw from Moonee Valley – and plans are in the works for Winx silo art at Hugh Bowman‘s home town of Dunedoo in NSW.
